Drop a line in

The magnificent Goulburn River, beautiful Nagambie Lakes and picturesque Lake Eildon provide excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for trout, salmon, cod and perch. Fly-fishing is also popular. Stake your spot on the bank or launch your boat and cruise the waters. There are lots of family-friendly spots to enjoy that boast scenic backdrops and an array of wildlife. You can relax in the tranquil surrounds, catch and cook your own dinner and then sleep under the stars.

The Department of Primary Industries carries out occasional releases of trout in many of the rivers, creeks and lakes. Some popular fishing locations have recreation areas, toilets and boat-launching facilities. Steep banks line some parts of the river, with sandbars and access points dotted throughout. Informal boat ramps are scattered along the rivers at popular access points. For detailed information visit the Parks Victoria website at www.parks.vic.gov.au
