Volunteer Privilege Pass

Volunteer Privilege Pass

Did you know there are over 500 tourism products (excluding accommodation) in the Goulburn River Tourism Region?

We welcome on average 7.6 million daytrip visitors and around 2.5 million overnight visitors to our region each year. Visitor Information Centres play an important role in the servicing and promotion of your business to visitors and for volunteers to know the product of the region... they need to experience it.

Here is a way you can help volunteers get to know your product better.

The Tourism Industry in the Goulburn River Valley region benefits greatly from the service of over 200 volunteers in Visitor Volunteer Privilege PassInformation Centres located at Marysville, Eildon, Yea, Alexandra, Kilmore, Seymour, Nagambie Lakes and Greater Shepparton.

Volunteers in these Visitor Information Centres provide a crucial role in disseminating information, responding to visitor enquiries, and often being the visitors’ first point of contact with our region. Travellers look to Visitor Information Centres for their first hand knowledge on things to see and do, places to stay and dine, activities and events.

Volunteers who have experienced first hand the features they are relaying to our visitors, are able to promote with greater enthusiasm, confidence and conviction.

How can my business participate?

It is simple, easy and FREE to have your business listed on the Volunteer Privilege Pass, but places are strictly limited due to space availability.

Participating businesses are asked to submit their special offer via the information box below by 30th April 2012 (this must be valid for 12 months).

Volunteers will be issued with identification cards which they will be required to present and have authorised when visiting participating businesses.

The pass will officially be launched at the 2012 VIC Summit on Thursday 17th May 2012.

Tips for businesses

When considering what to offer think about what you would like volunteers to talk about when they are promoting your business to visitors...

Some example offers could be:

  • Buy one coffee get one free

  • A free glass of wine with any meal purchase

  • Complementary sample size with any purchase

  • Complementary signature dish when dining with four or more people

  • Personal tour of a Gallery

Remember the more unique and enticing your offer - the more likely volunteers will visit and promote your business!

***As a result of their contact with volunteers at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Information Centre, 47% of visitors said that they would undertake more activities as a result of the information they received
